​My birthday was on Monday and I've been meaning to make this post since then. I don't know about you, but I get very emotional on my birthday. 🥲 Especially after losing my dad. 💔 Celebrating one more year being alive feels more meaningful.   
 
I remember my dad being calm and hopeful that I will figure things out after finding myself unemployed once again in 2020, around the same time he passed away. 

I know he's proud of me for how far I've come in my career as a business owner and a single mom. But it makes me sad that he's not here… physically here. 
 
On my birthday, I sat down to reflect on the things I've learned so far. I wrote them for the younger version of myself…  #23 rings so true as I feel behind on posting this for you. 🙈

1. Life is short, you’ll learn this the hard way, way too early.
2. You are capable of much more than you think.
3. You don’t have to have a lot of “friends.”
4. Stop comparing yourself with others.
5. Being a shy child is hard, work hard to overcome it.
6. Don’t pretend to be someone you are not just to fit in.
7. You are deserving of the love you give others.
8. Stop obsessing over a number in the scale.
9. It’s ok to be different, embrace your unique self.
10. Love and accept yourself.
11. Question everything and have your own opinion.
12. Stand up for what you believe in.
13. Saying please, thank you, and sorry will always make all the difference.
14. Always put yourself into other’s shoes.
15. People will take advantage of your kindness. Be kind anyway.
16. Give without expecting to receive something back.
17. The people who you love the most will disappoint you.
18. It’s okay to cry. Cry as much as you need to.
19. You’ll eventually like school, or at least part of it.
20. Believe it or not, your parents were right (many times).
21. Don’t forget to call your parents and tell them you love them.
22. Find a job that you like or go create your own.
23. Things usually take longer than you think. Plan accordingly.
24. Save! It will give you peace of mind.
25. Travel more, see the world.
26. Donate your time and skills to something you believe in.
27. People can't read your mind, say what you’re thinking.
28. Having a pet will open your heart.
29. Take more walks, go outside.
30. Always assume the best intentions.
31. Forgive and forgive. Even if you’ll never forget. Also, don’t forget to forgive yourself.
32. Having a kid will be the most beautiful life experience.
33. Your kid will be always watching you. Lead by example.
34. Always wash your face before going to sleep and don’t forget to use sunscreen.
35. Be thankful for what you have, every day.
36. If it is out of your hands, put it out of your mind.
37. Live a life that makes you proud.
38. Don’t take my advice or anyone’s advice. Just listen and follow your intuition.

I had the best weekend ever because my twin sister was in town. Did you know I’m a twin?
 
She lives in El Paso, where we went to college. We planned this weekend to have a little pre-birthday celebration (a week early). 👯‍♀️🎉 

November is my favorite! Not only is it my birthday month; it’s also Thanksgiving, which has now become one of my favorite holidays. 
 
Growing up in Mexico, we didn’t celebrate this holiday. So I see it and celebrate it more as a reminder to stop and reflect on the things and people I’m grateful for. 🥰 And of course, that includes YOU!
 
Maybe it’s cheesy, but without the relationships that I’ve made during my journey as an entrepreneur, I know my life would feel a lot different… and not in a good way. 😅
