My Brit + Co’s Selfmade review

​I had just been employed for a little over a year after being laid off from my decade-long corporate job when the pandemic hit and was left without a job again. 2020, the year that was a fog for most was the year I decided to take a leap of faith and believe in myself. 


 Life doesn't happen to you, it happens for you. 


This is one of my favorite Tony Robbin's quotes that I took to heart. Instead of feeling sorry for myself for finding myself unemployed again I decided to take control of my life by seeing it as an opportunity to go full-time in my business.  

But I knew I needed help. I had been trying to grow my business by myself and was not having enough traction to make my dream a reality of becoming fully self-employed. 

I had just enrolled in a group program in the Fall to help move my business forward when I learned about Brit Morin's Selfmade entrepreneurial program.

I was catching up with my friend and client, Lia Ballentine, founder of Yumday and she was raving about this amazing program she was taking being led by Brit Morin, founder and CEO of Brit + Co (If you don't know who Brit is, you can learn about her here). I could see her business flourishing and taking such a smart pivot. Her enthusiasm for the clarity she had gained for taking her business from small idea to a bigger vision was so inspiring. 

Lia was crediting her growth and drive thanks to Selfmade and she encouraged me to join the next cohort in the Spring of 2021.

​Investing almost $2000 in my business again seemed like a risky decision. Specially coming from a similar program. But I trusted Lia and her enthusiasm from her experience was contagious. I looked at the line-up of coaches and guest teachers and I knew the value was definitely worth it. The curriculum was very impressive too. There were many business topics I had never learned about (like fundraising, legal & press). 


I have to say that it has been the best $2000 I've invested in myself & in my business.

During Selfmade I made more money in my business than I did in all 2020. I gained so much clarity and got advice from Brit and a handful of coaches on how to re-wire my mindset, work over pushing through blocks and work on my goals. 

I got to learn from industry leaders like Gwyneth Paltrow, Bethany Frankel, Melissa Bernstein (Co-Founder of Melissa & Doug) and more. I was supported through the 10-week program by a coach and had the opportunity to meet most of the other coaches in the program through group and 1:1 sessions.

I've joined a couple business courses and nothing compares to Selfmade.
